On Thursday, June 2, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Pleasantville School officials reported that a 13-year-old Pleasantville student was the victim of an attempted luring incident, police said.
At approximately 7:18 a.m., a young girl was walking to her bus stop in the 600 block of Risley Avenue, police said. While walking, she noticed an adult male approaching her. Startled by the man’s presence and demeanor, she turned a walked in the opposite direction, police said.
The man quickly approached her from behind and allegedly grabbed her shoulders, police said. The girl ran towards a school bus driving in the area. The bus driver and bus aid apparently witnessed the incident and intervened, police said. The man fled on foot.
An investigation led by Detective Sergeant Stocks. Detectives Astrid Aurelus, Jeffery Raine, Haliema Leach, Juan Morillo and Jamal Roy led to the apprehension of Jamil Boston, 38, of Pleasantville. Boston was charged with attempted child luring, attempted sexual assault and child endangerment.
Boston was taken to Atlantic County Justice Facility pending court.
